The Importance of Allowing

So many of us are constantly striving for better, seeking more, looking for the next best thing that will help us get that ‘thing’ we are looking for – whatever that may be – happiness, fulfilling relationships, money, etc. But why is it that we have expended so much effort, whether it be on new clothes, a new diet, spending money on some sort of training, trying new methods or even just avidly praying for something “better,” and we still haven’t found what we are looking for?

The reason why is because we haven’t even stopped long enough to look around at all the good that we HAVE created with all of our hard work. We are so busy trying to improve things that we completely overlook what we do have and its value.

We first have to fully begin to accept where we currently are and allow it to take hold in our lives before we can create anything new. This is an essential part of the creation process. I’m sure you have heard before to be grateful for what you have, but there is a very good reason for that. It’s not only about sending the message out into the Universe that you appreciate what you have been given so the Universe will send you more of it. That may very well be true, but it’s really more about your own creation process and your active part in it.

If we are sending the message to ourselves that we are not truly happy with what we have created because we haven’t even stopped long enough to enjoy it, how much energy are we really going to let ourselves put toward creating something new? And if we try, how effective are we going to be? It’s not just about the message we are sending outward, it’s about the message we are sending inward to ourselves. It’s about standing still in one place long enough to fully experience where you are in your life and what valuable lessons there are for you to learn there.

If you just stop, take a deep breath, and look at how far you have come and what you have created you might truly be amazed! In this way, you can also create a state of aware relaxation in which you are able to receive. Just as we become receptive to new insights and ideas when we meditate, when we create a place of calm and peace within our daily lives, we put ourselves into a receptive state, or a state of allowing. And the state of allowing is where you begin to receive and see real change happen in your life.
