Find Gratitude: Right Here, Right Now

GratitudeEven when we find ourselves in what seems like the worst of circumstances, it is still possible to see the good in our situation. In fact, I recommend trying to. The reason why is that we often miss or overlook a valuable lesson when we simply deny that there could be anything positive about such a seemingly negative situation.

Maybe what we’re going through really is happening for a reason. Just because we don’t see it right away doesn’t mean there isn’t value in what we’re experiencing. There is ALWAYS value in EVERY experience we have, even if it feels negative at the time. There’s absolutely no exception to that rule. It’s just a question of recognizing it.

One of the best ways to do this is to journal about it. When we face our feelings head on, and openly explore them, we tend to make discoveries that we otherwise would have missed, simply because we are digging deeper than ever before.

The benefit to this is that instead of allowing a situation to overtake us in a negative manner, we take back control by turning it around to find something positive about it. We find the confidence that resides inside of ourselves to know we can face anything that is put in front of us and come out on top – in fact, better than we were before.

We know that we are stronger than anything and we are grateful for that strength. And once we start to see the lesson we were intended to learn, we are even more grateful as a result, because we see how much we have grown as a person and a Soul.

Because when it comes down to it, true gratitude comes from truly seeing the good in our lives, no matter what that looks like – even if things are not always perfect. Gratitude does not come to us only from circumstances that are wonderful. In fact, without some level of difficulty in our lives, we would not understand nor have any appreciation for the good in our lives.

The best thing we can do for ourselves is to allow ourselves to feel good, even when we’re having the worst of days. The better we feel in the midst of chaos, the better the result will be for us when all is said and done. After all, what do we have to lose? Feeling sorry for ourselves?
